Measure the space you actually have

Measure the clear wall area, including furniture beneath it, switches and nearby pictures. Mark out the proposed print size with plain paper before ordering. Step back to the position from which you normally see that wall. A print that looks generous close up may feel small across a room; one on a narrow landing will be seen from much nearer.

For a gift, avoid guessing a large wall size. An unframed print gives the recipient more choice, although they will need to buy a suitable frame. If you know where it will hang, ask for the dimensions of the available space.

Paper size is not always frame size

The displayed artwork dimensions describe the selected print. A frame can increase the outside dimensions. Check the selected product details and the frame opening, rather than relying on the name alone. Do not assume every frame sold as the same general size has an identical mount aperture.

The product page shows the currently available sizes and prices for that artwork. Use those options as the source of truth: our catalogue doesn't necessarily offer every standard paper size in every finish.

Match the image shape

A tall flower stem often suits portrait orientation; a long border may suit landscape. The original photograph and the selected format can have different proportions, which means some edge detail may be cropped. Check the preview for clipped flower heads, a shed roof or a path that ends abruptly. If a feature matters, give it breathing room in the source photograph.

Choose the surface for the picture

A paper print in a frame is a flexible choice for detailed flowers and smaller garden scenes. Canvas gives a more substantial object with texture; details around the edge need particular attention because of the wrap. Framed canvas has a different construction from a framed paper print. Compare the actual product descriptions before buying.

A familiar garden photograph can look good in any of those treatments, but a very small source image still limits the available print size. The upload tool checks which sizes suit the file. Increasing the number of pixels in another app cannot reliably recreate missing detail.

Give the print a suitable home

Garden art is for enjoying indoors. Avoid putting it where it will be splashed, steamed or exposed to prolonged direct sunlight. A kitchen wall away from the hob and sink is different from the inside of a damp potting shed. Ask about suitability before ordering for an unusual location.
