I'm Craig Fearn, and I run Gardenkept. It's a small UK shop that prints garden art and personal garden prints to order. I write the guides and the journal too, and I read the email, so the person who explains a print is the person who answers questions about it.
Why it exists
Some places deserve more than a place in your camera roll. A first allotment. A border that finally came together. The view from the kitchen after years of planting and moving things about. Gardenkept makes prints for those places, and for the people who look after them.
What we make
- Garden artwork: botanical studies, flowers, garden birds, kitchen garden crops, greenhouse and allotment scenes, and the birth flowers for every month.
- Your own photograph, printed as it is.
- A garden portrait made from your photograph in one of three painted styles.
Prints come as posters, framed posters, canvas, framed canvas, metal and wood, and some designs also go on a mug or a water bottle.
How a print is made and checked
Nothing is printed until you order it. We prepare each artwork at the sizes we sell, and a print partner makes your copy after you pay. Production takes 2 to 4 working days and delivery adds 2 to 5, so allow 4 to 9 working days. Delivery to UK addresses is in the price.
Before an order goes to the printer, our system checks that its print file exists and isn't empty. The first order for any new size or format is held back so it can be looked at before it prints. If a print arrives damaged or wrong, we reprint it or refund you at our cost.
If you use your own photo
The straight print sends your photograph unchanged, so check the crop before you pay. The garden portrait restyles it with AI, and you see a free watermarked preview first. Verify your email and you can try up to three a day. Nothing prints until you say yes, and an art style can change plants and buildings, so compare the preview with your photo.
Because these prints are made for you, they can't be returned for a change of mind, and we say so before you order. Prints from the collection can come back unused within 14 days of delivery. The delivery and returns page has the details.
What we won't do
- Invent reviews, awards or endorsements.
- Pass the flower prints off as botanical drawings. They're made to look good on a wall, so don't use them to identify a plant.
- Print a fact we can't source. Each guide lists where its facts come from, and one we can't check is cut.
Where the guides get their facts
Planting and pruning dates come from the RHS. Bird advice comes from the RSPB and the BTO, and pet safety notes from the ASPCA. My author page says more about how that works. If you spot something out of date, tell me. Corrections are the useful kind of email.
